14 Day – Elephant Field Conservation Mission
Throughout the programme, take part in real hands-on field research focusing on wild Asian elephants within a dynamic forest–farmland landscape where conservation meets human livelihoods.
Activities include behavioural monitoring, individual identification, and movement tracking, with detailed records of herd composition, social interactions, feeding patterns, and habitat use contributing to a real-time understanding of elephant ecology and behaviour in the field. Camera trap monitoring and analysis forms a major component of the work, reviewing genuine field footage to identify elephant presence, map movement corridors, and detect patterns of activity in and around agricultural areas. This helps highlight critical zones of human elephant interaction and supports the
development of targeted, on-the-ground conflict mitigation strategies. Field observations alongside experienced researchers contribute to ongoing conservation studies that directly inform human–elephant coexistence planning, habitat management, and conflict reduction initiatives. The data collected feeds into active conservation decision-making, strengthening long-term protection strategies for elephant populations and the communities sharing their landscape.
