7 Day – Elephant Conservation Immersion
Step into the forests of Laos, where Asian elephants move freely through protected habitat and conservation is driven by science, observation, and hands-on field learning. This immersive programme offers direct experience in elephant behaviour, welfare, and applied conservation medicine alongside veterinarians, biologists, and research teams.
Work in the field studying herd dynamics, social behaviour, and individual identification using morphological traits, building a practical understanding of elephant social structure, welfare indicators, and communication. Conduct behavioural data collection using ethograms alongside experienced researchers, contributing to real conservation monitoring and research.
Gain close insight into veterinary and management practices, including observation of health checks, foot care, positive reinforcement training, and instruction in clinical techniques such as target training and drug administration. Explore how behavioural and physiological data is used to guide welfare and conservation decisions in real-world settings.
